Along the way, I heard about a special kind of pasta consumed in Japan. It has been described as a secret Jananese women stay slim. Tofu Shirataki is called Noodle. It in several shapes, similar to western pasta. It is sold in the refrigerator section of stores like Whole Foods Market, where the lead tofu. I've heard various reports about this, but decided to try it.
I bought a spaghetti style, which was sold in 8 ounce bag. Contrary to what I heard that there is a strange smell at all, and it turned out, the texture is much like al dente pasta after cooking. I just rinse the pasta under cold filter running water just before use. This pasta has great benefits for diabetics.
First of all serving four oz has only 20 calories and 3 grams total carbs. To this amazing even better pasta has 2 grams of fiber in each serving, as well. Yes it's true. Pasta with one gram of net carbohydrates in the four parts of an ounce. Very good. The disadvantage is, because pasta is so rich in fiber, and in the liquid expands when you eat it. We need to start with a small part to make sure that it will not upset your stomach and gives the effect of the gas as broccoli. It may be too little binding, if you eat too much of that due to the fiber. Not everyone has this reaction Shirataki Noodles after eating tofu, but only some.
I had the recommended portion sizes on a package of four ounces. It is extremely filling expands, which is also very beneficial for people with big appetites. You should eat the recommended portion sizes or less at the beginning. I took these noodles and made a great light, but very filling stew of seafood and Japanese style. I used a simple but fresh ingredients. I was able to finish cooking in 20 minutes. This is a very fast recipe and a great weeknight after work. I hope you find these noodles and give them a try and I hope you like my recipe.
Tofu Shirataki Noodles in Ginger Lemongrass Broth-
Ingredients: 1 - 32 Kitchen Basics ounce container Seafood broth (or vegetable if unavailable) 1 stalk lemon grass (about 1 ounce), cut into three pieces and broken the back of a knife 1 - 2 "knob of fresh ginger, peeled and cut in half 2 cloves garlic 1 1 / 4 lbs. fresh seafood (shrimp, regulated white fish, mussels, squid, etc. or one of your favorites. You can mix and match as you like, because. This is where you can use what you want, but choose something with a mild taste) 1 head baby bok choy, leaves and stems, cut half separatel can water chestnuts, rinsed 2 - 8 oz packages Shirataki noodles with tofu, drained and rinsed white pepper to taste 1 tsp. toasted sesame oil, optional
Pour seafood stock in a large saute pan over high heat. Add lemongrass, ginger and garlic prepared as described. Bring to a boil and reduce heat. Cover and simmer heat for about 10 to 15 minutes.
Depending on the type of seafood purchased add your longest cooking along with first results with bok choy and water chestnuts. Cook for about 2 to 3 minutes. Add the next batch Shirataki noodles with tofu and cook for about 2 minutes. Add balance of seafood and bok choy leaves. Cover and simmer gently for about 1 minute or until completely cooked. Remove large pieces of lemongrass and ginger. Add a pinch of white pepper and toasted sesame oil to finish. Just as an example, I used sea scallops, which is cut in half because they were very thick, shrimp, squid and snapper. I cooked mussels and shrimp first to about 3 minutes, then added and cooked snapper for about 2 minutes. I added the squid and cook it for another 30 seconds. I had to cut large pieces of seafood and bok choy stems and leaves large bite size pieces. I left the shrimp.
